Dunham & Froese named #2 Winery in Canada!

In December a friend of ours who purchases wine for Mike Wiegele Heli Skiing happend to pick up the new Wine Report 2008 by Tom Stevenson and gave us a call when he found us listed. This report is an extensive world wide recommendation and rating of wineries.

Tom Stevenson assembles a team of regional experts that compile a variety of top 10 lists along with detailed information on vintages. Tony Aspler who was the Regional writer for Canada and has been a wine writer for 30 years listed Dunham & Froese as the #2 New and Up Coming Producer to watch in Canada!

Along with our 2006 Pinot Blanc recieving a Gold from the Okanagan Wine Festival a Double Gold from
2007 Platinum Judging of Wine Press Northwest  this was a great finish to a great year.

Dunham & Froese joins SOWA

The South Okanagan Winery Association (SOWA) consists of 20 wineries from the communities of Oliver and Osoyoos. SOWA represents this niche region that has attracted intrepid grape-growers, savvy wine makers, and diverse international personalities.  The member wineries and vineyards adopt, evoke and express the namesakes of the land, landmarks and personalities.

In Feburary we participated in the first annual SOWA Kitchen Party.  The party was hosted in at Midland Appliance’s Kingsway showroom East Vancouver. The wineries  showcased limited releases and specialty wines alongside nibbles and bites from some of Vancouver’s top restaurants. As an Association, we were able to raise $3000 from this event that has gone to support The Osoyoos Desert Society. They are a non-profit organization of volunteers whose mission is to raise awareness and to protect the Antelope brush community in the South Okanagan. For more information on their cause visit their website at
www.desert.org.

SOWA is going to be hosting some very fun and exciting events so sign up for our e-newsletter and we'll keep you posted.

From Vine to Bottle

Bottling is the day when our winemaker, Kirby has to set down his artistic brush and say it's finished. The week or so leading up to bottling Kirby has a few sleepless nights and spends hours at the winery tasting and analysing.

More time was spent this year because we have added two premium blends created from exceptional fruit! The grapes for both the red blend and white blend are from the infamous Black Sage and Osoyoos area.

This is our Amicitia
(ah-mee-CHEE-tee-ah) series. The name is Latin for friendship and represents not only the harmony of the blend but continues to represent the great friendship that Kirby, Crystal, Shelly and Gene have.
